What are O’rings

O-rings, also known as packing or toric joints, are ring-shaped seals that are used to create a leak-proof seal between two or more parts. They are often made of elastomers, such as rubber, but can also be made from other materials like thermoplastic materials, metal, or FKM (Viton). 

The main purpose of O-rings is to prevent fluid or air from escaping as it acts as a sealing device.

When the ring is squeezed between two surfaces, it takes up the clearance and then prevents any fluid or air from being released
